One table for the five biggest leagues: the top five of the Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1 — twenty-five clubs, ranked honestly across leagues that don't play the same number of matches. Pick a season, then walk through it round by round: the table, the journey and the boots all move together. How is this fair? Read how we rank ›

This note exists so you never have to take our word for it.
The Bundesliga and Ligue 1 play 34 matches; the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A play 38 — and mid-season, clubs differ even inside one league. Raw points would quietly hand a head start to whoever has played more. So every club is ranked by points per match — what it earned, divided by the matches it actually played. Ties are split by goal difference per match, and then by points. That is the whole rule, printed here so you can check it yourself, and it is the same rule in the table and in the journey — a club's line ends on the row it occupies.
A fair question — and we will not pretend to answer what our data cannot. Whether a French point is “worth less” than an English one could only be measured where the leagues actually play each other, and a league season contains no such matches. Any site that gives you a single cross-league “power score” is giving you an opinion dressed as a number. We don't.
What our archive can measure — completely — is how rare a season is in its own league's history. seasons of all five leagues say the folk wisdom is mostly backwards:
| League | Leader's average pts/match |
|---|
At a season's furthest round, hover any club's Pts/m to see where that season sits in its own league's history — its percentile against every top-five season the league has produced since the archive began. Part-way through a season we don't show it: a percentile compares whole seasons, and a figure after eleven rounds is not one.
Every figure on this page is recomputed at every build from the certified match record — the same one behind every club page — and can be re-derived by anyone from the matches themselves. We correct the yardstick, never the result.
